despite its gloomy name, this is one of the most beautiful photography projects i've seen in a long time. (thanks for the tweet gusa!) it's called "we're all gonna die - 100 meters of existence" by simon hoegsberg. there are 128 people in this panoramic 100m x 78cm film strip shot over the course of 20 days from the same spot on a railroad bridge in Warschauer Strasse in Berlin in the summer of 07.
each day our lives seem to get busier and busier and we miss the opportunity to just stop and look around to watch other people, be in the moment, witness love, pain (matching eye patches, really?), humor, and truth. i love how from the same spot he can see people old and young, homeless and wealthy, happy and sad, alone and together - and i love thinking about where these people are leaving from or headed to. i mean who carries a pool noodle anymore?
definitely worth a look. check out his other projects here.

first jaxbeards meeting is tonight!
i am so proud of sean for all the work he's put into starting the official jacksonville chapter of beard team usa. the jacksonville beardsmith society is a social club (ie. drinking) founded to create a community of people and elevate respect for facial hair of all kinds - mustache, partial beard, full beard, sideburns, you name it.
membership is open to everyone. there are no dues, no applications, and no acceptance processes. you don’t even need facial hair to join (ladies!). just show up at steamworks in 5pts at 7:30pm on the LAST tuesday of every month. if you don't have a beard or mustache, one will be provided for you - and everyone with a beard or mustache, fake or real, will enjoy drink specials, new friends and good conversation.
at tonight's inaugural meeting sean will talk about beard team usa, the world beard & mustache championships, nyc beard & mustache championships coming up on march 14, local events inline for the jacksonville chapter, etc. plans for the future include a website with member photos, events calendar, etc., a blog, tshirts, and more.
to learn more, follow jaxbeards on twitter, myspace and facebook.
hope to see everyone tonight at 7:30!!!!

we heart it
found a new site i like called we heart it. basically a huge bookmarking site for images people "heart" on the web. reminds me of stumbleupon, which does the same kind of thing for websites. it also keeps track of all the images you "heart" under your account page so you can find them again. unlucky for me, the tool doesn't currently work with IE, but i subscribed to the feed. however, i fear that i will not be able to keep up - almost 50 posts today alone! i see another 1000+ google reader category coming my way. ugh, not enough hours in the day to soak up all the beauty.

girls day!
we had a great girls day on saturday! i drove beth around for a few hours to look at apts for her in riverside, then we met up with stef, karen, katie and tiff at european street for happy hour and lunch, after that we moved to the perfect rack in murray hill where we all perfectly sucked at pool but had a great time trying, and then somehow managed to make it to eclipse for a few more drinks and way too much dancing.
