sunday dinner
13 gypsies
sean and i finally made it to 13 gypsies last thursday for dinner! when we arrived all 14 seats were filled and it was a bit loud, but after one party left it calmed down and we were able to have a nice relaxing dinner. we had a bottle of naia ($24 = 200% markup), thier honey garlic hummus (easy at-home idea), queso manchengo, a cheese plate of jarlsberg with quince paste, and the curry mango chicken. all yummy, good service and fun music. we'll definitely go back.

bbqs + chalk
saturday night's impromptu bbq led to some interesting additions to our menu board in the kitchen. see if you can find the following: a "thug life" tattoo, a phantom penis (shout out to karen!), curly tears, and a cap 'n crunch hat. also note today's special: chicken burgers, dissapointment and friends.
we also gained some great new quotables that night, courtesy of mr. chris lahey - "she looka like she preeeegnant" referring to one of the playboy playing cards (don't ask) and "what's that computer doing? just chillin?" referring to my laptop. muahaha.
the selby: julia roitfeld
i want her tv, books, jewelry, shoes, flowers, camera and effortless cool. see the rest of her new york apartment pics here.

goods for the greater good
Social Designer, Goods for the Greater Good, is an interactive online design and fashion marketplace for people who want to make a difference. Social Designer promotes social awareness through design competitions, the selling of goods created as a result, and donation of a portion of the proceeds to non-profit organizations tied to the nine cause categories it supports.
Each week will focus on one of the cause categories: Animal Welfare, Peace, Education, Arts & Culture, Emergency Relief, Environment, Health & Well-Being, Human Rights and Poverty. Through the votes from the online community and a panel of judges, a winner will be chosen and receive $2,000 and their design will be featured and sold on the Social Designer website.

kings of leon + the walkmen
sean and i went to see kings of leon + the walkmen at the st. augustine ampitheatre last night & it. was. awesome. the crowd wasn't too packed so we were able to scoot down a few rows and sit with karen, tiffany, sean & amy in ROW D! the walkmen set started out a little shaky since their frontman was caught in traffic "behind a 400 lb walrus", but he made it just in time to pull off a good two song finale. then the sun went down and the lights came up for kings of leon. they played a straight set of great songs and seemed geniunely thankful for where they are today saying "i used to paint houses and now look at this" referring to the sea of fans. all in all it was a great show & after two concerts in four days at the st. aug ampitheatre its my new favorite venue. hope they keep up with adding newer acts to the lineup. check out the killer kol posters sean tucker did for the ampitheatre staff & a video clip of use somebody from last night.
mom's day in st. augustine
my mom and i celebrated mother's day early last weekend complete with james taylor at the st. augustine ampitheatre on friday night (awesome!), shopping & the beach on saturday, and more shopping on sunday before we headed home. our last stop of the weekend was leonardi's plant nursery off A1A where i dropped an easy $50 on new succulents and pots for the house. see more pics of the great greenery here.
