i <3 my grandma
this weekend i visited my grandmother in the hospital. she has been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer while dealing with congestive heart failure and other uncomfortable ailments. with all of this she was still in high spirits and making me laugh. i hope i can be as strong as her when i grow up. can't wait to see her again on friday for her 60th wedding anniversary. xoxo

my awkward family story
"One day when I was about 14, my dad and I went to get our pictures taken for the church directory. We were called into a room and the photographer arranged us for the shot, my dad sitting on one stool and me sitting on another positioned between his legs. I thought this was a little awkward, but it was only a headshot and I assumed the photographer knew what he was doing. So we go in the next room to give them our information and the lady asks "So, I will list this as Mr. and Mrs. Butsch, correct?" to which I said, "Umm, no, gross. He's my dad." She then explained, "Oh, I'm sorry. It’s just that in your photo you’re positioned like our married couples." Grrrreat. A month later the church directory comes out and every other father & daughter shot has them sitting shoulder to shoulder, and then there's me . . . sitting between my dad's legs. Awkward."

my june birthday girls
happy happy birthday to all of my june girls! we had a great time celebrating karen's bday (6/14) last weekend with pizza, beer and bowling & this weekend we'll be heading to melbourne for a joint bash to celebrate tara (6/23 - TODAY!) and gloria's (6/26) birthdays. i love all three of you so hard and hope you each enjoy your birthday to the fullest.
p.s. i love how the pictures i picked for each of you seem color coded - karen gets white, tara black and gloria brown. trifecta!

the sinclair
i can't wait to check out the sinclair, a new bar on forsyth downtown (old voodoo spot). has anyone been yet? read about it on jaxscene and see pics here.
update: we went up to the sinclair last night, cool space with a cool vibe. bartender jason was super nice, great paintings by ryan strasser above the bar. we'll def go back! best of luck.

sean's bday bbq - tomorrow @ 1
everyone's invited! sean's bday bbq is saturday, june 6 @ 1pm at our new place in murray hill. (contact sean or myself for directions). we'll be grilling burger, ribs and veggie options into the afternoon. we just ask that you byob and a chair to sit your rump on as we don't have any outdoor furniture yet :) let us know if you can make it so we can plan ahead on the food. hope to see you there!

movie: away we go
my friend jem just posted a bunch of trailers for upcoming movies and i pretty much love them all, especially this one. i looove me some john krasinski. (sean just did an awesome drawing of him for me!) so watch the trailer now and we'll all go see it together when it comes out. fingers crossed that it gets picked up in jacksonville.

meetup.com = awkward
so, i follow several local groups on www.meetup.com for my work like raw & vegan groups, beer & wine groups, healthy moms, etc. well, the main organizers of these groups often send out mass emails to all the members telling them about an upcoming event, a reminder, etc. then silly members write back personal messages to the organizers not realizing they too are sending a mass email to ALL of the members. here's one i got copied on today:
"BG.......Please see attached as we discussed over the phone. Take care......love......ybb and PLEASE have yourself a day where depression gets replaced with happiness. You have SO MUCH to not only look forward to, but to appreciate now........but u know that. Love always......daniel"
i'm sure "BG" appreciates daniel telling everyone he's depressed. awkward.
