awesome new threadless tee. oh, and the post title is on purpose, our friend josh moss lived on a street named zibra.
ladies night
went out for dinner & drinks with stiff, biff and karen on saturday. my first time at copeland's, the food was good, the drinks were flowing. (fyi - key lime martini = pie in a glass!) after they turned on the lights and kicked us out we shifted over to ale house for some pitchers and birthday week shots for stiff. night included a graceful fall in the rain and some stomach works (not telling you who had what), but all in all a funny, eventful night with the ladies!

things i dislike very strongly
1. pumping gas
every time i pump gas, it feels like one of the following happens: a. you pull up, get out your debit card, get out of the car, pop the gas lid, turn around to get the pump and there's a big out of order sign you missed driving up; b. you start pumping gas only to realize the pump is going about 20 cents per minute, and after waiting 5 minutes you only have 1 gallon in the tank, so you get frustrated and give up only to go to another station where it happens all over again; or c. you start pumping gas only to realize you've picked the pump with the "sensitive handle", the one where you have to spend 5 minutes trying to find the sweet spot so it won't click off everytime you squeeze it.
2. bad food service
after convincing marisa to come out for a quick lunch with us at broadway pizza on the southside where they have a 10 minutes or less express lunch menu, we sit down around 11:18 and order our food. simple meals, nothing made to order. not only do the people who ordered after us get their salads first, the waitress comes by and says "sorry about the wait, but i have some good news. your [marisa's] cannoli will be on the house". umm, that doesn't really help joey or i, but thanks. after seeing our food sit on a tray in the kitchen for t10 minutes, it finally comes out around 11:58 - 40 minutes after we sat down. we ask for the manager. joey points out that we're on our lunch break and now have to scarf down our food, their supposed promise of a 10 minute lunch was missed by a long shot, and now our food is cold. we end up with the whole meal comped, and i up my water to a diet coke. yeah, we got a free meal but a lunch break is supposed to help you de-stress from work, not piss you off to the point where you come back to work and blog about it for 20 minutes because you're still ticked off.
can't wait for my date tonight with sean. hoping it involves wine.

new fav: beet salad
jenn ordered the beet & goat cheese salad appetizer at the waverly in new york where they only use local and organic ingredients and it was delicious! the waverly is a secret celeb-preferred restaurant in nyc. her boss was able to pull off a reservation for jenn's birthday. saw hugh grant on our way out. can't beet that!

jax beard made front page!
i know i already posted about this, but i just got a hard copy of today's tu in my hands and it's so much cooler than seeing it online. the jacksonville beardsmith society article is the entire cover of the lifestyle section & there was a callout on the bottom of the front page! i need to go buy 20 more to mail out to friends and family - so proud & excited for my awesome bf sean!

call for artists - join today!
downtown vision inc. recently tapped aiga jacksonville to compile a group of 8 - 10 local artists to paint thier vision of downtown on a vinyl banner during next month's artwalk on april 1. (no joke!) the banner will be part of the "great streets" program to help promote the beautification of downtown jacksonville.
each artist will receive an 8ft x 3.5ft banner space and free supplies. artists must be comfortable working in a crowded environment and be able to fill the large canvas space in the time provided (4pm - 8pm). artists can bring thier own chair/pillow, small promotional materials, etc but there is no payment for participation - this is a donated effort!
other parts of the 100ft banner will consist of preprinted panels and 1ft x 1ft squares for artwalk attendees to come up and paint thier own square.
being an outside banner there is no guarantee against vandalism and no determined time for how long it will be up. this is more about the cause and drawing awareness to the local efforts.

coincidence
monday night sean and i saw ryan adams & the cardinals at the florida theatre. on tuesday he married mandy moore in savannah, ga just hours away. so weird to think his mind was probably on the wedding the whole time he was playing for us. 
last night on TMZ (don't ask), thier last discussion was on the oscar meyer weiner mobile. the main guy said "i used to love that thing" and they all had a big chuckle. well wouldn't you know, i was sitting at a light on baymeadows road this morning and the frickin weiner mobile goes by! it was huge! (that's what she said)

garage sale this saturday!
sean and i are getting ready to move into a new place soon - should be all set for this awesome house in murray hill, fingers crossed - as i started to survey our house i came across several things i felt i could part with, sooooo we're having a garage sale THIS SATURDAY! well, technically a carport sale, but you get the idea. come by 2579 herschel st (on herschel btwn barrs & king in riverside) from 8am - 12pm THIS SATURDAY to rumage through our goods! you know you want to :)
we have a 50cent bin, $1 bin, $5 for clothes (cool men & women's wear), $5 for purses, shoes, jewelry, decorations, vhs tapes (buffalo 66, virgin suicides, royal tenenbaums, ace ventura - oh yeah), lamps, games, candles, dish sets, pots & pans, and more - and we haven't even finished going through all our stuff.
i'm also selling my beloved barber's chair, pictured above. hope to see you saturday!

happy birthday week marisa!
as i sit here at 12:47am posting this, i am officially 47 minutes too late to post "happy birthday" to mrs. marisa louise carta ratliff nubs chimmy chow, but i'm gonna post it anyway because marisa is the bestest friend/coworker/baker/creative person/darling little ball of love and she deserves to be treated like it's her birthday every day! or better yet, like it's her wedding day! marisa just married the boy of her dreams in the most beautiful ceremony the world has ever seen. full wedding post to come soon! until then, happy birthday week marisa! see you at the office :)
