downtown vision inc. recently tapped aiga jacksonville to compile a group of 8 - 10 local artists to paint thier vision of downtown on a vinyl banner during next month's artwalk on april 1. (no joke!) the banner will be part of the "great streets" program to help promote the beautification of downtown jacksonville.
each artist will receive an 8ft x 3.5ft banner space and free supplies. artists must be comfortable working in a crowded environment and be able to fill the large canvas space in the time provided (4pm - 8pm). artists can bring thier own chair/pillow, small promotional materials, etc but there is no payment for participation - this is a donated effort!
other parts of the 100ft banner will consist of preprinted panels and 1ft x 1ft squares for artwalk attendees to come up and paint thier own square.
being an outside banner there is no guarantee against vandalism and no determined time for how long it will be up. this is more about the cause and drawing awareness to the local efforts.
